Unbound & Outside is a captivating exploration of emotional abstract art, showcasing the unique style of Lana Fly.
Lana Fly was born in Sept-Iles, Quebec on September 19, 1975, to immigrant parents from former Yugoslavia. Right from the start, it was obvious her energy was boundless. As a toddler, she ran before she learned to walk, reaching for everything as quickly as possible. Her passions matched her energy levels, and her childhood was full of curiosity, exploration, and an endless release of her energy.
As a gifted athlete, Lana graduated from high school in Sarnia, Ontario, with multiple athletic scholarships but decided to enroll at the University of Western Ontario in the Fine Arts department. She then went on to graduate with an honors degree in Computer Science in 2000 and was recruited to work for Microsoft in Seattle. Her success has always stemmed from her extreme curiosity about the world around her, mixed with her desire to create. She loved visualizing and creating software programs, but it was not enough; she needed to express her inner landscape through her emotional abstract art. There was a burning desire in her belly she could no longer ignore. With passion and curiosity, she paints her subconscious mind by surrendering to the unknown, letting her energy and impulses guide her. She is painting her truth, and the results are extraordinary. Her abstract art is full of energy, as if she birthed new life that has a story to tell. They are exactly how they should be... her truth at that moment. The song of the moment. She touches something beyond herself and releases it onto the canvas.
Currently, Lana Fly is living in Moraga, California, with her husband, three kids, a dog, two cats, and a chameleon. Life has lined up perfectly, allowing her to pursue her passion and obsession for painting full-time, focusing purely on pushing the boundaries of what is possible in painting. She thinks of herself as a mad scientist experimenting with her emotions, the subconscious, the spiritual, and using her energy to transfer this truth onto the canvas, which will sing a song as powerful as music, dance, or poetry.
